Ko-Khawan and Yayasan Muhibah Malaysia Distribute Aid to 8,500 Recipients in Penang with Prime Minister Anwar’s Support

On the 11th of January 2025, in Batu Maung, Penang, the large-scale aid program organized by Ko-Khawan in collaboration with the Yayasan Muhibah Malaysia was launched, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim personally participating in the distribution of aid supplies. The event, held at the Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MBSP) building, provided back-to-school assistance to 2,000 students and distributed daily necessities to 6,500 B40 families.

Koperasi Khazanah Usahawan Berhad (Ko-Khawan) and Yayasan Muhibah Malaysia Chairman Dato’ YK Eng pointed out that the attendance of both Prime Minister Anwar and Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow reflected the government’s strong support for underprivileged groups.

Founded the previous year, the Yayasan Muhibah Malaysia was the result of an initiative by Ko-Khawan, with 300 members, and its main mission was to assist the underprivileged, including orphans, single parents, and students from the B40 group.

For the program, it was stated that primary and secondary school students from the B40 group, as well as orphans, received school supplies to ensure they could start the school year with full enthusiasm. In addition, each B40 family received grocery items and essential daily necessities, with the value of each contribution estimated at RM100.

As the organizers, we were deeply moved and extremely grateful for the support from both the national and state leaders for the event. The event was a great success, with the active participation of the community and strong support from national and state leaders, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving the lives of the less fortunate.
